Medicine Ball Thruster

Quads, Glutes, ShouldersMedicine Ball

A full-body compound exercise fusing a deep squat with an overhead press. It fires up your quads, glutes, and shoulders to build conditioning and explosive strength.

How to do it

1Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the med ball at chest height.
2Squat down until your thighs hit parallel, keeping your chest up and back flat.
3Drive aggressively through your heels to explode back up to standing.
4Transfer that leg power straight into an overhead press until your arms are fully extended.
5Smoothly catch the ball back at chest height as you sink right into the next squat.

Common mistakes

Breaking the movement into two separate steps instead of driving up in one fluid motion.
Rounding your back at the bottom of the squat, overloading your spine.
Letting your heels lift off the floor during the squat, shifting load to your knees.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower into the squat, then exhale hard as you drive up and press the ball overhead.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
