Rotational Medicine Ball Scoop Toss
Obliques, Glutes, BackMedicine Ball
A dynamic exercise that builds rotational power and total-body coordination. It trains synchronized rotation through your feet, hips, and core to drive lateral power.
How to do it
1Stand side-facing a wall or open space, holding the ball at your back hip.
2Soften your knees and shift your weight onto your back leg.
3Pivot your back foot and hip forward, initiating rotation from your lower body.
4Transfer weight forward and sweep the ball upward across your body using your obliques.
5Return to the starting position under control and reset for the next rep.
Common mistakes
Rotating your torso while keeping your back foot glued to the floor, creating dangerous knee twist.
Throwing strictly with arm strength instead of driving through the hips and core.
Rounding your lower back during the wind-up, increasing spinal strain.
Breathing
Inhale on the wind-up, then exhale sharply as you pivot and launch the ball.
Make it harder or easier
To regress, use a lighter ball and smaller rotation. To progress, increase ball weight or throw speed.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
