Medicine Ball Rotational Slam

Medicine Ball Rotational Slam

Obliques, Abs, DeltsMedicine Ball

Rotational medicine ball slams combine torso rotation and explosive power to target the obliques, abs, and shoulders, training diagonal force transfer from the legs to the upper body.

How to do it

1Stand tall with a wide stance, holding the medicine ball at chest height with both hands.
2Inhale as you arc the ball overhead, pivoting your back foot and hip.
3Exhale as you rotate your torso and slam the ball into the floor just outside your front foot.
4Soften your knees as you slam to absorb the load.
5Pick up the ball and repeat the movement on the opposite side.

Common mistakes

Failing to pivot the back foot, placing unnecessary twisting stress on the knee joint.
Slamming with completely straight legs and locked hips.
Losing control of the ball's path by dropping your head sharply downward.

Breathing

Inhale as you wind up and lift the ball overhead; exhale forcefully as you slam it into the floor.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, use a lighter ball and shorten your wind-up arc.
To make it harder, increase your pace and slam with maximum power.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
