Machine Decline Chest Press
Lower Chest, Front Delts, TricepsIncline Chest Press Machine
The seated decline machine press safely builds the lower chest and triceps. The fixed path makes technique easy to control and keeps joint risk minimal.
How to do it
1Adjust seat height so the handles line up with your lower chest.
2Sit back with your upper back and head flat against the pad, feet planted firmly.
3Grip the handles slightly wider than shoulder-width and retract your shoulder blades.
4Exhale and press the handles forward to near full extension.
5Inhale and slowly return to the start position under full control.
Common mistakes
Flaring shoulders or peeling shoulder blades off the pad — increases shoulder injury risk.
Hard locking your elbows at lockout — takes stress off the target chest muscles.
Letting handles snap back quickly — loses eccentric muscular control.
Breathing
Exhale as you press forward; inhale as you control the handles back.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, reduce the weight stack load. To make it harder, add a 1-second hold at full extension.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
