L-Sit Hold

L-Sit Hold

Abs, Hip flexors, QuadsParallel bars, floor

The L-sit hold is an advanced isometric core exercise that fires up your abs, hip flexors, and quads. It requires solid hamstring flexibility and shoulder girdle strength.

How to do it

1Grip parallel bars or place your palms on the floor next to your hips, depressing your shoulders away from your ears.
2Press hard into the surface, lock out your arms fully, and lift your hips off the ground.
3Raise your straight legs in front of you until they are parallel to the floor, forming an L-shape.
4Hold this position by bracing your core and quads while keeping your shoulders locked down.
5Lower your legs back to the floor smoothly when your time is up.

Common mistakes

Sagging into your shoulders stresses the ligaments and ruins upper-body stability.
Bending your knees shifts the load and signals a lack of core strength or flexibility.
Hunching your upper back prevents proper core engagement.

Breathing

Take shallow, controlled breaths while maintaining constant tension in your abs.

Make it harder or easier

To regress, perform a tuck hold with your knees bent. To progress, extend your hold time.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
