Cable Lat Pull-Around
Lats, serratusCable Machine
A single-arm cable pull-around for targeting the lats and serratus. The sweeping arc trajectory allows for a deep stretch at the top and an intense contraction at the bottom.
How to do it
1Stand sideways to a high pulley, grab the handle with your outside hand, and step away to set tension.
2Lean your torso slightly toward the cable stack and raise your working arm above head height.
3Pull the handle down in an arc toward your waist, driving your elbow down along your side.
4Squeeze your lat hard at the bottom and hold for a second.
5Return your arm along the same arc under control, feeling a full stretch along your side.
Common mistakes
Pulling in a straight line instead of a sweeping arc, missing the entire point of the path.
Twisting your hips and torso with the movement, stripping tension from the target back muscles.
Going too heavy, causing your elbow to flare way behind your back instead of tracking close along your rib cage.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull the handle down, and inhale as you return your arm up under control.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
