Lateral Shuffle

Quads, Glutes, AdductorsBodyweight

Bodyweight conditioning exercise targeting quads, glutes, and adductors. Develops lateral stability and balance control while shifting center of gravity side to side.

How to do it

1Stand tall with feet slightly wider than shoulder-width and knees softly bent.
2Take a wide step to the side with your lead leg, keeping feet parallel.
3Quickly bring your trailing leg back to your starting athletic stance width.
4Continue shuffling in one direction without crossing your feet or popping up high.
5Reverse direction and shuffle back, leading with the opposite leg.

Common mistakes

Crossing your feet during the shuffle, causing loss of balance.
Standing up straight between steps, unloading target muscles and breaking rhythm.
Turning feet outward, throwing off tracking and stressing the knee joints.

Breathing

Maintain smooth, steady breathing throughout the movement.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, take shorter steps at a slower pace. To make it harder, drop into a deeper quarter-squat.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
