Kroc Row
Lats, Traps, Rhomboids, ForearmsHeavy Dumbbell
The Kroc Row is a heavy standing dumbbell row variation that uses controlled body momentum to overload the lats and build crushing grip strength. It's built to push high-rep work capacity and power.
How to do it
1Brace one hand on a sturdy rack or bench, hinge forward at the hips, and set your feet shoulder-width apart.
2Grip a heavy dumbbell in your free hand and let it hang, fully stretching your lat.
3Explosively row the dumbbell to your waist using powerful back contraction and controlled body momentum.
4Squeeze your back hard at the top and contract your shoulder blade.
5Lower the dumbbell under control, readying your back for the next rep.
Common mistakes
Yanking excessively with your lower back instead of driving with your lats, increasing injury risk.
Cutting the bottom range short, preventing the lat from getting a full stretch.
Using wrist straps too early, stripping away the intended grip-strength benefits.
Breathing
Take a deep inhale at the bottom, and exhale forcefully as you explode the weight up.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, lighten the weight and perform strict rows.
To make it harder, bump up the weight or push for higher reps per set.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
