Kneeling Lat Stretch

Kneeling Lat Stretch

Lats, Triceps, ShouldersBench

Gently stretches your lats, triceps, and shoulders. Excellent for improving shoulder mobility and relieving built-up upper body tension.

How to do it

1Kneel in front of a bench, bend your arms, and rest your elbows on the edge.
2Join your palms behind your head or point them toward your shoulder blades.
3Smoothly drop your chest down and sink your hips back, feeling a stretch along your sides.
4Hold this comfortable position for a few seconds without arching your lower back.
5Slowly return to the start position by engaging your core.

Common mistakes

Arching your lower back excessively, placing unwanted stress on your spine.
Dropping down too quickly, which can irritate shoulder joints.
Letting your elbows lift off the bench, reducing stretch effectiveness.

Breathing

Inhale before starting, then exhale smoothly as you lower your torso. Keep breathing steadily while holding the pose.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, step further back from the bench and decrease your stretch depth.
To make it harder, hold a light dowel or increase the hold duration.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
