Kneeling Cable Pulldown
Lats, BicepsCable Machine
The kneeling cable pulldown is a vertical pulling variation that hits your back while challenging your core stabilizers. Kneeling removes leg assistance, demanding active engagement from your abs and glutes to keep you upright.
How to do it
1Kneel in front of the cable machine with your hips fully extended.
2Grip the high-pulley handle with a medium or wide grip.
3Squeeze your core and glutes to lock your torso tall and vertical.
4Pull the handle down toward your upper chest, pulling your shoulder blades down.
5Return the handle smoothly back up, feeling a controlled stretch through your lats.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back excessively shifts tension and can cause lower back pain.
Sitting back onto your heels removes core stabilizer work and alters the pull angle.
Pulling the handle behind your neck places your shoulder joints in a dangerous position.
Breathing
Exhale as you pull the handle down, and inhale as you control it back up.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, place a soft pad under your knees or sit on a low box.
To make it harder, perform the pull one arm at a time.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
