Kneeling Cable Anti-Rotation Press

Kneeling Cable Anti-Rotation Press

Obliques, Abs, CoreCable Machine

This is an anti-rotation core exercise using a cable stack. It strengthens the obliques and deep abs by training your core to resist twisting forces from a kneeling position, which reduces spinal strain.

How to do it

1Kneel sideways to the cable machine and hold the handle with both hands at chest level.
2Stay tall, brace your abs, and squeeze your glutes to lock your pelvis in place.
3Exhale as you press the handle straight out in front of you, preventing your torso from rotating toward the machine.
4Hold for a second at full extension while keeping your shoulders and hips square.
5Inhale as you control the handle back to your chest.

Common mistakes

Twisting your torso toward the cable machine, which takes tension off the target core muscles.
Arching your lower back, creating unwanted pressure in your lumbar spine.
Rushing the return back to your chest, reducing time under tension.

Breathing

Exhale as you press the handle straight out where resistance is highest. Inhale as you return the handle to your chest.

Make it harder or easier

To scale down, lower the weight or don't extend your arms fully; to make it harder, hold the extended position for several seconds.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
