Kneeling Ankle Mobilization

Kneeling Ankle Mobilization

Ankles, CalvesBodyweight

Half-kneeling drill to improve ankle dorsiflexion and gently stretch the calves, preparing your lower-body joints for work.

How to do it

1Get into a half-kneeling position with your front knee at a 90-degree angle.
2Place both hands on your front knee for balance and control.
3Slowly drive your front knee forward over your toes, keeping your heel glued to the floor.
4Reach full ankle bend, then smoothly return to the starting position.
5Complete the target reps, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Letting your front heel lift off the floor, losing the ankle mobility work.
Letting your knee cave inward as you push forward, straining knee ligaments.
Moving jerkily or pressing down excessively hard on your front knee with your hands.

Breathing

Exhale as you push your knee forward, inhale as you return to the start.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
