Kettlebell Thruster

Kettlebell Thruster

Quads, Glutes, Shoulders, TricepsKettlebell

Combines a deep squat and overhead press into one fluid movement. Builds functional leg drive, shoulder strength, and core stamina.

How to do it

1Rack the kettlebell at one shoulder with your elbow tucked and feet shoulder-width apart.
2Squat down until your thighs are parallel to the floor, keeping your chest up and back flat.
3Drive forcefully up through your legs out of the bottom position.
4Transfer that momentum straight into pressing the bell overhead to a full lockout.
5Lower the kettlebell smoothly back to your chest as you drop straight into the next squat.

Common mistakes

Pausing between the squat and press, breaking your momentum and exhausting your shoulders.
Letting your knees cave inward on the drive up, putting bad stress on your knee joints.
Rounding your back at the bottom of the squat, shifting load onto your spine.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower into the squat. Exhale as you drive up and press the kettlebell overhead.

Make it harder or easier

To scale down, cut your squat depth or use a lighter weight. To scale up, pause for one second at the bottom of the squat before driving up.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
