Kettlebell Side Bend

ObliquesKettlebell

The kettlebell side bend targets the obliques and lateral core line to strengthen side-core stability.

How to do it

1Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the kettlebell in one hand at your side.
2Place your opposite hand behind your head or on your waist.
3Bend smoothly toward the kettlebell side, sliding the weight down your leg while keeping your hips fixed.
4Lower to a comfortable depth without twisting your lower back.
5Contract your opposite obliques to pull yourself back to a strictly upright position.

Common mistakes

Twisting your torso forward during the bend, placing dangerous stress on your spine.
Using momentum or swinging instead of controlled muscle effort.
Shifting your hips to the side, reducing the targeted load on the obliques.

Breathing

Inhale as you bend to the side, and exhale as you return to standing.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
