Kettlebell Bottoms-Up Hold

Kettlebell Bottoms-Up Hold

Forearms, ShouldersKettlebell

An isometric hold performed with the kettlebell held upside down. Forces shoulder stabilizers, grip strength, and core control to fire continuously.

How to do it

1Grip the kettlebell handle tightly so the heavy bell points straight up.
2Bend your elbow to roughly 90 degrees and position the kettlebell in front at chest or shoulder height.
3Squeeze the handle hard and keep your forearm perfectly vertical.
4Stand tall, pull your shoulder down away from your ear, and brace your core.
5Hold this position for time without letting the kettlebell tilt or fall.

Common mistakes

Using a loose grip, causing the kettlebell to tilt or drop.
Shrugging the shoulder up toward your ear, overloading the upper traps.
Arching your lower back to compensate for poor core stability.

Breathing

Breathe steadily and deeply throughout the hold.

Make it harder or easier

To scale down, support the bell with your opposite hand or drop weight.
To make it harder, take slow controlled steps while maintaining the hold.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
