Inverted Hang
abs, hip flexorsPull-Up Bar
The inverted hang is a body control element that gently decompresses the spine using your body weight. It also engages your abs and hip flexors to maintain balance.
How to do it
1Grab the bar with an overhand grip and gently tuck your knees to your chest.
2Roll backward smoothly, driving your hips and legs straight up to invert your torso.
3Align your body vertically along the bar while keeping full control of your core and grip.
4Hold the inversion, letting your spine decompress without sudden movements.
5Lower your hips and legs back down under control to return smoothly to a straight hang.
Common mistakes
Dropping out of the inverted position too fast — can cause dizziness or loss of control.
Overarching your lower back — compromises spinal safety.
Relaxing your grip — risks slipping off the bar.
Breathing
Breathe calmly and deeply throughout the exercise to stay stable.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, use a low bar so your feet can touch the floor if needed.
To make it harder, hold the inversion without hooking your legs on the bar, relying purely on arm and core strength.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
