Seated Incline Machine Chest Press
Upper Chest, Front Delts, TricepsIncline Chest Press
An incline press variation that shifts the focus to your upper chest, front delts, and triceps. The fixed path helps keep the weight fully controlled, while the backrest prevents swinging and reinforces proper form.
How to do it
1Set the seat height so the handles align with your upper chest.
2Press your back and glutes flat against the backrest, open your chest, and drop your shoulders.
3Plant your feet on the floor and grab the handles with a comfortable grip.
4Smoothly press the handles up and forward, focusing on driving with your upper chest.
5Hold for a second at the top, then slowly return to the starting position.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back excessively, which flattens the press angle and turns it into a standard chest press.
Flaring your elbows too wide to the sides, placing unsafe stress on your shoulder joints.
Letting the weight drop quickly at the bottom, stripping your chest of an active stretch phase.
Breathing
Inhale as you lower the weight; exhale as you press upward.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, reduce the weight and stay within a comfortable range of motion.
To make it harder, hold a two-second pause at peak contraction.
