Heel-to-Toe Walk

Heel-to-Toe Walk

Calves, CoreBodyweight

A balance and coordination drill that strengthens the feet, calves, and core stabilizers by walking in a strict straight line. Excellent for warm-ups and stability training.

How to do it

1Stand tall with good posture and look straight ahead.
2Step forward, placing your front heel directly in front of your back toes.
3Shift your weight to the front foot, keeping your core tight for balance.
4Repeat with the other leg, placing heel to toe again.
5Keep walking along a straight line at a smooth, steady pace.

Common mistakes

Staring down at your feet — throws off neck alignment and disrupts your balance system.
Flaring your toes outward — reduces the balance challenge and unloads foot stabilizers.
Rushing through the steps — cuts off control and balance at each foot strike.

Breathing

Breathe naturally, deeply, and evenly throughout the walk.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
