Handstand Push-up

Handstand Push-up

Shoulders, TricepsBodyweight

An inverted overhead pressing movement using your own bodyweight. It blasts your shoulders and triceps while demanding elite balance and core stability.

How to do it

1Kick up into a handstand against a wall or freestanding, hands shoulder-width apart.
2Squeeze your core and glutes to lock in a neutral spine.
3Bend your elbows to lower down, bringing your head slightly forward relative to your hands.
4Gently touch your head to the floor with full control.
5Press forcefully back up to the starting position until your arms fully extend.

Common mistakes

Excessive lower back arch — places unsafe axial load on your spine.
Flaring elbows out to the sides — increases risk of shoulder strain.
Crashing down out of control — risks neck injury or slamming your head.

Breathing

Inhale on the way down, exhale forcefully as you press yourself back up.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
