Half-Kneeling Pallof Press
Obliques, Abs, CoreCable Machine, Resistance Band
This anti-rotation exercise builds static strength in your obliques and deep core. The half-kneeling stance takes your legs out of the equation, forcing your core to work in isolation to stabilize your pelvis and spine.
How to do it
1Get into a half-kneeling position perpendicular to the machine, with the inside knee down on the floor.
2Hold the handle with both hands directly against your chest to set tension on the cable or band.
3Stand tall through your spine, drop your shoulders, and brace your core to lock your pelvis in place.
4Slowly press the handle straight out in front of you, resisting the pull to rotate toward the anchor.
5Hold the extended position for 1–2 seconds while keeping your entire body completely still.
6Control the handle back to your chest without letting the weight snap you backward.
Common mistakes
Letting your torso or hips twist toward the machine, stripping tension off your obliques.
Shrugging your shoulders toward your ears as you press, overworking your upper traps.
Leaning forward or sideways to compensate for the weight, disrupting spine alignment.
Breathing
Inhale with the handle at your chest, and exhale as you press your arms straight out.
