Half-Kneeling Cable Lift
Core, ObliquesCable pull machine
A low-to-high diagonal cable lift in a half-kneeling position that strengthens the obliques and trains the core to resist rotation.
How to do it
1Kneel on one knee sideways to a low pulley, placing your outside leg forward.
2Grasp the cable handle with both hands next to your inside hip.
3Smoothly pull the handle diagonally up across your torso to outside shoulder height.
4Keep your lower body locked down, ensuring rotation happens through your thoracic spine.
5Slowly return the handle back to the lower pulley.
Common mistakes
Setting your front foot and knee too narrow, causing a loss of balance.
Overarching your lower back at the top position, stressing your lumbar spine.
Using momentum or jerking your torso to lift the weight.
Breathing
Inhale at the bottom before initiating movement. Exhale as you lift the handle diagonally upward.
