Dumbbell Wrist Rotation
ForearmsDumbbell
A seated unilateral exercise that isolates the forearm rotators to build wrist control and joint stability.
How to do it
1Sit down and rest your forearm on your thigh, with your hand extending past your knee.
2Grip the dumbbell in the center of the handle.
3Rotate your wrist palm-up, keeping the movement controlled by your forearm.
4Rotate your wrist back down to palm-down, passing smoothly through neutral.
5Complete your reps, then switch hands.
Common mistakes
Twisting the wrist too fast without control, straining the ligaments.
Moving your elbow or shoulder instead of rotating purely from the forearm.
Using a weight that is too heavy, disrupting smooth execution.
Breathing
Breathe rhythmically—inhale rotating one way, exhale rotating the other.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, hold the handle dead center.
To make it harder, choke up toward one end of the handle to create more leverage.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
