Dumbbell Seesaw Press
Shoulders, Triceps, AbsDumbbells, Bench (Optional)
The standing dumbbell see-saw press builds shoulder mass, triceps strength, and core stability. The alternating rhythm demands constant balance control while standing forces your entire core to stabilize.
How to do it
1Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart, holding dumbbells at shoulder level with a neutral or overhand grip.
2Brace your core and squeeze your glutes to lock your pelvis and protect your lower back.
3Press one dumbbell straight overhead to a full arm extension at the top.
4Lower the active arm back to your shoulder while simultaneously pressing the opposite dumbbell overhead.
5Maintain a smooth, continuous alternating press at a steady tempo, keeping your torso locked tight.
Common mistakes
Swaying your torso from side to side, shifting the load off your shoulders and onto your spine.
Arching your lower back during the press, creating unsafe axial pressure on your spine.
Using leg drive to push the weights up, taking work away from the target shoulder muscles.
Breathing
Maintain a steady rhythm, exhaling on every press overhead and inhaling as the dumbbells switch positions.
