Decline Dumbbell Press

Decline Dumbbell Press

Lower chest, Front delts, TricepsDumbbells, Incline Bench

The decline dumbbell press targets the lower chest, front delts, and triceps while easing strain on the shoulder joints.

How to do it

1Lock your ankles securely into the leg rollers of a decline bench and lie back.
2Position the dumbbells directly over your lower chest.
3Inhale as you lower the dumbbells smoothly toward your lower chest, controlling elbow path.
4Exhale as you press the weights back up, focusing on squeezing your lower chest.
5Pause for a second at peak extension without locking out your elbows.

Common mistakes

Failing to lock your feet properly into the rollers, losing stability and control.
Lowering the dumbbells too high toward your neck, placing harsh strain on the shoulders.
Dropping the weights too fast, increasing injury risk when switching directions at the bottom.

Breathing

Inhale on the descent; exhale as you press the weight back up.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
