Decline Dumbbell Fly

Lower chestDumbbells, Incline Bench

An isolation decline bench exercise targeting the lower chest. It helps carve out lower pec definition without involving the triceps.

How to do it

1Lock your shins securely under the bench pads and lie back.
2Press the dumbbells up over your lower chest with a soft bend in your elbows, palms facing in.
3Inhale and smoothly open your arms out to the sides in a controlled arc.
4Lower the dumbbells until you feel a comfortable stretch across your lower pecs.
5Exhale and bring the dumbbells back together over your chest along the same arc, keeping a slight bend in your elbows.

Common mistakes

Locking out your elbows completely, which puts dangerous stress on the joints.
Dropping the weight too fast, risking shoulder strain.
Lifting your head off the bench, creating unnecessary neck tension.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower and open your arms, exhale as you bring the dumbbells back together over your chest.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
