Dumbbell Jump Shrug
Traps, Quads, Glutes, CalvesDumbbells
An explosive jump variation targeting triple extension and trap power. Holding dumbbells at your sides keeps the weight centered and reduces spinal stress.
How to do it
1Hold dumbbells at your sides with a neutral grip and stand up straight.
2Perform a quick dip by pushing your hips back with your chest high.
3Drive hard into the floor, fully extending your hips, knees, and ankles to jump.
4Shrug your shoulders up toward your ears at peak extension with arms fully extended.
5Land softly, absorbing the landing through your knees and hips.
Common mistakes
Landing flat on your heels or on straight knees, causing joint shock.
Swinging the dumbbells forward or back instead of keeping a vertical path.
Slouching or rounding your shoulders in the dip, losing core stability.
Breathing
Inhale on the dip, then exhale forcefully as you drive up into the jump.
Make it harder or easier
To regress, drive up onto your toes without jumping. To progress, gradually increase weight or jump height.
