High Doorway Chest Stretch

High Doorway Chest Stretch

Upper ChestDoorway

A doorway chest stretch with high arm placement isolates and opens up the upper fibers of the pecs.

How to do it

1Stand in a doorway, raise both arms overhead, bend your elbows, and place your forearms against the frame above head height.
2Step forward with one foot, shifting your weight onto your front leg.
3Lean your chest gently forward until you feel a light stretch in your upper chest.
4Keep your spine neutral without arching your lower back.
5Hold the stretch, then step back and release your arms.

Common mistakes

Overarching your lower back to force a deeper stretch instead of moving from the chest.
Jutting your head forward, putting unnecessary stress on your neck.
Stepping forward too aggressively, causing shoulder discomfort.

Breathing

Breathe deeply and steadily, using every exhale to gradually relax into the stretch.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, take a smaller step forward or lower your elbows slightly.
To make it harder, step further forward or shift your torso slightly lower into the doorway.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
