Seated Decline Machine Chest Press
Lower Chest, Front Delts, TricepsDecline Chest Press
A targeted machine exercise emphasizing the lower chest, front delts, and triceps. The downward guided motion path minimizes shoulder joint strain and makes it easy to maintain crisp technique from a stable seated position.
How to do it
1Adjust the seat height so the handles align with your lower chest.
2Press your back firmly into the pad and plant your feet flat on the floor.
3Grip the handles comfortably and pull your shoulder blades together.
4Press the handles forward and slightly downward by contracting your lower chest.
5Control the handles back to the start, feeling a smooth stretch through your chest.
Common mistakes
Letting your shoulders or upper back pull away from the pad during the press, shifting load to the front delts.
Returning the weight too fast, decreasing time under tension and increasing injury risk.
Bending your wrists backward, putting unnecessary strain on your wrist joints.
Breathing
Exhale as you push the handles out; inhale smoothly as you bring them back.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, reduce the weight on the machine.
To make it harder, add a pause at full muscle contraction.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
