Clock Reach

Clock Reach

Core, Glutes, QuadsBodyweight

Build balance, mobility, and stability in your core, glutes, and hips. Standing on one leg while reaching with the other challenges your stabilizer muscles, improving coordination and joint stability.

How to do it

1Stand tall, shift your weight onto one leg, and keep a soft bend in that knee.
2Imagine a clock face on the floor with your standing foot right in the center.
3Reach the toe of your free foot forward to tap 12 o'clock, then return to the center.
4Tap out to the sides and back, using your core and standing leg to stay balanced.
5Complete the full circle, then switch legs and repeat.

Common mistakes

Letting your standing knee collapse inward, which strains the joint.
Shifting your weight to the reaching foot, which defeats the purpose of single-leg balance.
Hunching your upper back, which weakens your core engagement and ruins your balance.
Rushing through the taps, which stops your stabilizer muscles from firing properly.

Breathing

Breathe steadily. Exhale as you reach out to tap, and inhale as you return to the center.

Make it harder or easier

To scale down, shorten your reach or lightly hold onto a wall or chair for support.
To scale up, perform the exercise on an unstable surface like a folded yoga mat.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
