Clock Lunge

Clock Lunge

Quads, Glutes, Hamstrings, AdductorsBodyweight

Clock lunges combine lunges in multiple directions around an imaginary clock face. This exercise builds multi-planar leg strength, hip mobility, and balance control.

How to do it

1Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and hands on your hips or at your chest.
2Step forward with your right leg to 12 o'clock and drop into a forward lunge.
3Push back to center, then step out to 3 o'clock for a side lunge while keeping your chest up.
4Return to center and step back to 6 o'clock into a reverse lunge, bending both knees to 90 degrees.
5Repeat the full circuit with your left leg, stepping to 12, 9, and 6 o'clock.

Common mistakes

Letting your knee collapse inward on side lunges, placing dangerous stress on the joint.
Lifting the heel of your lead foot off the floor, reducing stability and overloading your knee.
Leaning your torso too far forward, losing core engagement and balance.

Breathing

Inhale as you step out and lower; exhale as you push off to return to center.

Make it harder or easier

To simplify, decrease your lunge depth. To make it harder, hold light dumbbells at your sides.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
