Calf Stretch
CalvesBodyweight
Relax tight calves and improve lower leg mobility after workouts or long days on your feet.
How to do it
1Face a wall or sturdy support and place both hands on it at shoulder height.
2Step one leg back, keeping that back heel flat on the floor with your front knee slightly bent.
3Lean forward into the wall until you feel a solid stretch in the back calf.
4Hold this position, keeping your rear heel pinned to the floor.
5Hold for the set time, step back in, and switch legs.
Common mistakes
Letting your back heel peel off the floor: Keep it pressed flat to get a full stretch.
Bending your back knee: Keep the rear leg straight to target the gastrocnemius muscle.
Bouncing or forcing the stretch: Hold static pressure smoothly without jerking.
Holding your breath: Keep breathing deeply to help the muscle release tension.
Breathing
Inhale to set up, then exhale slowly as you lean in to deepen the stretch. Keep your breathing steady throughout.
Make it harder or easier
Ease off the intensity by stepping your rear foot slightly closer or leaning forward less.
Deepen the stretch by stepping back further while keeping your back heel firmly planted.
Bend your back knee slightly to shift the stretch onto your soleus muscle.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
