Cable Front Raise
Front DeltsCable Machine, D-Handle
An isolation exercise using a low cable to target your anterior deltoids. Continuous cable tension gives a smooth load with minimal axial pressure on the spine.
How to do it
1Stand facing away from the low pulley, grab the D-handle with one hand, and step forward to set tension.
2Stand tall, keep a slight bend in your working elbow, and lock that joint angle.
3Exhale and raise your arm forward above shoulder height using your front delt.
4Pause briefly at the top.
5Inhale and slowly lower your arm back down, keeping tension on the muscle.
Common mistakes
Swinging your torso, shifting load off the delt and onto your lower back.
Bending your elbow too much as you lift, engaging your bicep instead of your delt.
Letting your arm drop quickly, losing tension on the negative phase.
Breathing
Exhale as you raise your arm forward. Inhale as you lower it back down under control.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, reduce the weight and lift only to shoulder height.
To make it harder, increase the weight or pause at the top for two seconds.
