Standing Cable Rope Biceps Curl
BicepsCable Machine
Standing rope cable curls isolate the biceps with smooth, constant tension throughout the entire rep to build upper arm strength.
How to do it
1Face a low pulley, grab the rope with a neutral grip (palms facing), and step back to create tension.
2Roll your shoulders back, keep knees soft, and pin your elbows tightly to your sides.
3Exhale and curl your hands up toward your shoulders by squeezing your biceps.
4Spread the ends of the rope apart at the top for maximum peak contraction.
5Inhale and lower the weight back down slowly, keeping tension on your arms.
Common mistakes
Swinging your torso to swing the weight up, taking tension off your biceps and onto your back.
Drifting your elbows forward at the top, which disengages the biceps.
Dropping the weight quickly, losing eccentric tension and risking elbow joint stress.
Breathing
Exhale as you curl the rope upward; inhale as you slowly lower it back down.
