Box Step-Up
Quads, Glutes, HamstringsPlyo Box or Step Platform
Functional lower-body exercise targeting the quads, glutes, and hamstrings using a step box. Builds balance and single-leg strength with minimal joint impact.
How to do it
1Stand tall in front of the box with your feet hip-width apart.
2Place one foot fully on the box, ensuring solid contact.
3Drive through the lead heel and step up onto the box.
4Lock out the working leg at the top, lightly touching the box with your trailing foot.
5Step back down under control and repeat.
Common mistakes
Pushing off the back leg on the floor, taking work away from the lead leg.
Letting the lead knee cave inward as you step up.
Stepping with your heel hanging off the edge of the box.
Breathing
Exhale as you drive up onto the box; inhale as you step back down.
