BOSU Ball Balance

BOSU Ball Balance

Calves, CoreBOSU Ball

A stability exercise to strengthen the feet, ankles, calves, and core. It improves balance, coordination, and joint stability.

How to do it

1Place the BOSU ball dome-side up on a flat, non-slip surface.
2Carefully step onto the center of the dome with one foot, then bring your other foot up.
3Keep your knees slightly bent, your back straight, and look straight ahead.
4Maintain your balance by engaging your core and letting your feet and ankles make micro-adjustments.
5When finished, carefully step off the platform backward, one foot at a time.

Common mistakes

Locking your knees, which prevents you from absorbing movement and ruins your balance.
Looking down at your feet, which rounds your back and shifts your center of gravity.
Letting your ankles cave in or flare out, which strains the ankle joints.

Breathing

Breathe smoothly and deeply throughout the hold. Do not hold your breath; natural breathing helps keep your core engaged.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, stand near a wall or sturdy object you can lightly touch for support.
To make it harder, try turning your head side-to-side or closing one eye while balancing.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
