Band-Resisted Sprint

Band-Resisted Sprint

Quads, hamstrings, glutesBand, Partner, or Anchor Point

Explosive resistance band exercise that builds sprint acceleration and leg power. Refines running mechanics while hitting the glutes, quads, and hamstrings. Easily scale intensity by adjusting band tension.

How to do it

1Secure the resistance band around your waist and anchor the other end to a sturdy post or partner.
2Step away until you feel solid tension, then lean your torso slightly forward.
3Drive forward explosively, pumping your knees high into an intense sprint.
4Drive your arms rhythmically to maintain balance and sprint speed.
5Sprint for your target reps or distance, then walk back under control.

Common mistakes

Leaning too far forward, which ruins running mechanics and cuts glute engagement.
Snapping back violently when tension drops, risking loss of balance.
Kicking your heels back instead of driving knees up, reducing push-off power.

Breathing

Breathe rhythmically with sharp, quick exhales on every hard stride. Keep inhales natural.
