Resistance Band Chest Fly

Resistance Band Chest Fly

ChestResistance Band

Build chest strength and control with this standing resistance band exercise. The band provides constant, smooth tension throughout the full range of motion.

How to do it

1Anchor the band behind you at chest height and grab one handle in each hand.
2Stand tall, step forward to create light tension, and keep a soft bend in your elbows.
3Hug your arms forward in a wide arc, squeezing your chest as your hands come together.
4Bring your hands together at chest height and pause briefly.
5Slowly open your arms back out under control without letting the band snap you backward.

Common mistakes

Locking out your elbows, shifting stress from your chest to your joints.
Arching your lower back or leaning forward to momentum the weight.
Stepping too close to the anchor, losing band tension at the start of each rep.

Breathing

Exhale as you bring your hands together; inhale as you return to the starting position.

Make it harder or easier

Step closer to the anchor to reduce resistance. To make it harder, step further away or hold the squeeze at the front for two seconds.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
