Band Monster Walk
Glutes, AbductorsResistance Band
Standing resistance band isolation exercise to strengthen the gluteus medius and hip abductors. Performed with lateral steps, keeping spinal axial loading to a minimum. Helps build knee and pelvic stability.
How to do it
1Place a mini-band around your shins and stand tall with feet parallel, hip-width apart.
2Slightly bend your knees and hinge your hips back into a quarter squat.
3Take a controlled step to the side, pressing against the band's resistance.
4Step your trailing foot back to hip-width, maintaining light tension on the band at all times.
5Complete your prescribed reps in one direction, then repeat to the other side.
Common mistakes
Letting your knees cave inward puts dangerous stress on knee ligaments.
Bringing your feet completely together releases band tension and disengages the muscles.
Swaying your upper body side to side shifts work from your glutes to your lower back.
Breathing
Keep a steady rhythm, exhaling with every lateral step.
