Band Leg Press
Quads, GlutesResistance Band
A lying resistance band leg press that develops quad and glute strength without placing axial load on the spine.
How to do it
1Lie flat on your back, loop the center of the band over the arches of your feet, and grip the ends at your ribs.
2Pull your knees in toward your chest with feet set shoulder-width apart.
3Press through your feet to extend your legs forward and slightly upward against the band's resistance.
4Stop just short of locking out your knees at full extension to protect the joints.
5Slowly bend your knees back toward your chest, controlling the band pull.
Common mistakes
Hard locking your knees at the end of the press, shifting load off muscles and onto joints.
Lifting your lower back off the floor, placing unnecessary stress on the spine.
Letting your knees cave inward as you extend your legs.
Breathing
Exhale as you push against the band to extend your legs, and inhale as you return your knees to your chest.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, use a lighter band or press your legs at a higher angle toward the ceiling.
To make it harder, use a thicker band or hold a pause at full extension.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
