Band Lateral Walk
GlutesResistance Band
A resistance band exercise targeting the gluteus medius to stabilize your pelvis and knees. Strengthens your outer thighs and improves movement control. Performed with lateral side-steps.
How to do it
1Place a resistance band around your shins or above your knees and stand with feet hip-width apart.
2Slightly bend your knees and hinge your hips back into an athletic quarter-squat.
3Take a controlled step to the side with one foot, stretching the band.
4Follow with your second foot, maintaining constant band tension and foot spacing.
5Complete your target steps in one direction, then repeat back the other way.
Common mistakes
Letting your knees cave inward during the step, placing unwanted stress on the joints.
Bringing your feet all the way together, losing band tension and reducing effectiveness.
Bobbing up and down with each step, taking constant tension off your glutes.
Breathing
Exhale as you step out to the side; inhale as you bring your trailing leg across.
