Band-Assisted Hip Flexor Stretch
Hip FlexorsResistance Band
A hip flexor stretch using a resistance band anchored behind you to pull the hip forward and improve joint mobility.
How to do it
1Anchor a resistance band low to a sturdy object and step inside, placing it high on the thigh of your back leg.
2Drop into a half-kneeling stance so the band pulls your rear hip forward.
3Tuck your pelvis slightly, stay upright, and squeeze the glute on your back leg.
4Hold the position until you feel a gentle stretch through the front of your hip.
5Switch sides and repeat.
Common mistakes
Arching your lower back to compensate for tight hip flexors.
Twisting your hips out of square, losing targeted tension on the hip flexor.
Letting your front knee push too far past your toes, placing excess strain on the knee joint.
Breathing
Maintain deep, steady breathing. Sink your hips slightly deeper into the stretch on every exhale without bouncing.
Make it harder or easier
To make it easier, rest your hands on a bench or chair in front of you for stability.
To make it harder, raise the arm on the stretched side overhead and gently lean your torso away.
This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
