Ankle Pumps

Ankle Pumps

Calves, TibialisBodyweight

An easy isolation drill to build ankle mobility and gently wake up your calf muscles. It boosts circulation and primes your joints for walking or heavier training without needing any equipment.

How to do it

1Sit or lie down comfortably with your legs extended straight out.
2Pull your toes as far toward your shins as possible, flexing the front of your lower leg.
3Hold the fully flexed position for one second.
4Point your toes fully away from you, squeezing your calves.

Common mistakes

Moving too fast or jerking, which reduces muscle control and can trigger cramps.
Rotating your feet side-to-side instead of moving strictly front-to-back.
Holding your breath during repetitions.

Breathing

Breathe naturally at a comfortable pace. Exhale as you pull your toes toward you, and inhale as you point them away.

Make it harder or easier

To make it easier, decrease your range of motion.
To make it harder, loop a resistance band around your feet for added resistance.

This is general guidance, not a medical opinion. Listen to your body: if it hurts, stop. If you have an injury or a chronic condition, talk to a doctor first.
